Julius and James were very fortunate to meet Alex and Gabriella, a delightful young couple living in Barcelona. Alex is Catalan, and Gabriella is from Mexico, and and the connection between them draws continents closer together. Their love has carried them through both Mexico and Spain, but here we really wanted to showcase Barcelona, one of Europe’s most romantic cities. It’s one of our favourite places in the world, and a perfect spot for destination engagement photography. Two Toronto wedding photographers were incredibly fortunate to be able to do this shoot.

We started off in the absolutely unique Park Guell, designed by Antonio Gaudi. It’s one of the architectural and landscape wonders of the world, with commanding views of the whole city. From there we walked downhill into Gracia, one of Barcelona’s to be discovered scenes, for a coffee break. It’s sometimes referred to as the “Republic of Gracia” due to its independent spirit. Finally we climbed up Mount Montjuic to the old Castle, where we took in a perfect setting sun over the city which blankets the countryside from Mount Tibidabo all the way down to the beach at Barcelonetta. With our trusty Polaroid SX 70 instant film camera, we captured some details, scenes and portraits.
