Same-sex weddings are so much fun to shoot, but Mike and Derrick’s big day was a blast! This wedding was full of happiness, laughter and the sense of fun and style the couple brought to their unrepeatable day.

You can always tell when two people really love and care for each other, and you can sense it instantly with Mike and Derrick. They have an electric chemistry going on between them which shines through in many of these images. We witnessed so many thoughtful moments – the notes and gifts they exchanged, the way they could barely contain themselves as they were walking down the aisle, the genuine happiness of family and friends, the cute details that put the stamp of their personalities on the day, I got a bit choked up as I was preparing this post.

Perhaps my reaction was also due to the 3 years it has taken us to get here. We met Mike and Derrick back in 2012. They were planning ahead for a 2014 wedding. It’s taken us another year to publish these shots, which we could only do once they’d been published first by Gayweddings.com. It’s been a good 3 years.

We were honoured to be a part of, and to share with you, some of these moments of pure, spontaneous joy.
